Dedicated to my daughter Kathy Woodyard-Bart
My 32-year old daughter Kathy passed away February 13, 1999 from breast cancer. The journey from diagnosis to death was only 17 months. During the course of her illness we learned a lot about media hype and the truth about this disease. In hindesight we would have done many things differently if we had the knowledge we now possess.
I talk in the "we" because it was Kathy's and my wish to be able to help others with this disease and I feel her presence and inspiration with me daily. We want to continue with this website and want to pass on this knowledge to you so that you may have a better chance of beating this disease.
Young women often times have more aggressive
forms of breast cancer than older women.
The information on this website is geared toward aggressive disease. I believe that knowledge is power and the more you know about breast cancer the better choices you will be able to make about your treatment.
In Appreciation to the Fremont Police Department
On behalf of Kathy's husband Dave Bart, Kathy, and myself, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Fremont Police Department who were there for us during the course of Kathy's illness. The cards, flowers, and visits by the department made her feel very special and loved during the last months of her life. And I know she was extremely proud of the spectacular police funeral she was given. The Police department tribute may be seen at: A Tribute to Officer Bart.
I also want to thank the Livermore PD and all those who donated their time to give her husband the "Gift of Time" to be with his wife during the last months of her life.
