Officer Kathy Woodyard-Bart

Kathy Woodyard-Bart On Saturday, February 13, 1999, after a courageous and determined battle with cancer, Officer Kathy Woodyard-Bart passed away.

Kathy was the only child of Jack and Gayla Fabbro Wilson of Redwood City, California. Gayla affectionately described Kathy as a "tough cookie" when she was a child. This personality trait would prove to be very valuable for Kathy with the challenges and accomplishments that lay ahead.

Kathy was an excellent athlete. She started roller skating competitively when she was seven years old. Kathy enjoyed tremendous success and achieved a World Class Ladies ranking and a Gold Medal in the United States National Dance and Figures Proficiency Awards. Kathy also enjoyed great success while playing soccer and swimming at the high school level.

In April of 1996, Kathy met her future husband, Officer David Bart, of the Livermore Police Department, on a water skiing trip. Kathy was an avid water skier, and she and David spent most of their spare time skiing on the Delta. After completing chemotherapy last March, Kathy began training to ski in the California Police Summer Games.

Kathy spent five years as a member of the Fremont Police Department. Kathy worked in the patrol division and was a hard working and dedicated officer. Kathy's excellent interpersonal skills and competitive nature proved to be a very successful formula. She was an outstanding police officer and a compassionate public servant. Kathy truly loved her job and was a consummate professional.

Kathy was a devoted wife, a loving daughter, and a friend who would not hesitate to help another.

Kathy met her final challenge with extreme courage and great honor.

We will miss her...
