My current plan for a breast lump |
1. |
I'd get an infrared digital image (Breast Thermography) |
| 2. |
I'd get an ultrasound |
| 3. |
I won't get mammograms. I see no survival advange (and there are many research studies that agree with this). Instead, I would do digital-infrared-imaging (Breast Thermography) for my annual check ups, and ultrasound if I had anything suspicious going on. |
| 4. |
I would insist that all tests be done within a 2 week time frame and if surgery was needed it be done promptly without delays. |
| 5. |
I would find the local breast cancer support group, go to a meeting and find out who the good surgeons and oncologists were and where I should go to get a second opinion. I would also make sure my doctors were held in high esteem with the support group women. If I found out negative things about my current doctors, I would switch doctors. I know that my choice in doctors might mean my life. |
| 6. |
I would interview my doctors to make sure they were caring, communicative, and would treat me with respect. I would want to know the why and the statistics regarding my treatments. No doctor has the cure for cancer, therefore, I should have a choice based on all the facts, to make the final decisions regarding my treatment and the respect and support of my doctor if I chose a different treatment. |
| 7. |
I would instruct the surgeon that "very clean margins" were more important to me than breast cosmetics. This would relieve the surgeon about the worry that I'd be upset later if my breast was disfigured and he would understand that saving my life was the most important goal. |
| 8. |
I would contact Rational Therapeutics about their in-vitro chemo sensitivity test. Then I would have them and my doctor coordinate it so that they would get a live tissue sample sent the same day the surgery was performed. |
| 9. |
I would not do radiation. The long-term side effects of radiation bring into question any survival advantage. |
| 10. |
I would start treatment with a licensed naturopath, and chinese medicine doctor. I'd also buy the book "Beating Cancer With Nutrition" by Patrick Quillin and start on ImmunoPower and a cancer beating diet. And I do visualization and prayer. |
| 11. |
I would do followup breast thermography every three to six months for the rest of my life to carefully watch for any possible signs of new activity in my breasts. |
| 12. |
I'd stop worrying about tomorrow because nobody knows what tomorrow may bring so I don't want to waste my time on it. I would bring more joy into my life. I'd spend more time with family and friends and appreciate life. I'd live in the moment and be grateful to God for however many more today's I've got left. |
